What Comes Next
For a long time, Wyrdwood has existed as ideas, maps, documents, and conversations. This week marked one of the first moments where something intangible became physical.
We’ve begun the process of designing and ordering the Wyrdwood currency — real, weighty metal coins that will eventually be used across the estate for trade, services, and membership-related exchanges.
Why a Physical Currency?
Wyrdwood is meant to feel inhabited, not simulated.
Physical currency does a few important things:
It grounds interactions in the real world
It encourages presence and participation
It reinforces that this is a shared place with its own rhythms and rules
Coins pass from hand to hand. They acquire wear. They tell stories.
That matters.
The Design
The current working designs feature:
A 28mm diameter coin size — substantial without being cumbersome
Raised antique metal finishes (gold, silver, and copper variants)
A recessed, darker field to give contrast and age
A front bearing the Wyrdwood tree, representing growth, roots, and continuity
A reverse design intended for deeper symbolism, evolving as the project matures
These are not “props.” They are meant to feel like something that belongs.
This Is Still Early
It’s important to be clear:
This doesn’t mean Wyrdwood is opening tomorrow.
What it does mean is that we are now crossing thresholds where decisions carry cost, commitment, and consequence. Currency only makes sense if a world is intended to last.
This step is about laying foundations, not making promises we can’t keep.
What Comes Next
Over time, the currency will tie into:
Membership tiers
On-site trade and services
Events, workshops, and shared experiences
A broader economic framework designed to support artisans and community participation
For now, this is simply one of the first tangible pieces of Wyrdwood taking shape.
We’ll share more as it evolves.
