Wyrdwood Currency

What It Is
Wyrdwood uses an internal, on-site currency to support immersion, fairness, and community exchange.
This currency is used exclusively within Wyrdwood and exists to simplify transactions during events, support in-world storytelling, and ensure all on-site activity remains contained, transparent, and compliant.
How the Currency Works
Wyrdwood currency can only be used on-site
It cannot be redeemed for cash
It cannot be transferred off-site
It has no cash-out or resale value
It is not a substitute for real-world money outside Wyrdwood
This ensures the currency remains a closed-loop system designed for participation, not speculation.
How Currency Is Used
Wyrdwood currency may be used for:
Food and drink (where permitted)
Goods from approved vendors
In-world services or activities
Event-specific exchanges
Character-based rewards or progression
Exact availability may vary by event, zoning, and development phase.
How Currency Is Obtained
Currency may be acquired in several ways:
Purchase at Reception
Visitors and members can exchange real-world funds for Wyrdwood currency at designated on-site locations.
Earned Through Participation
Characters may earn currency through:
Stewardship roles
Event participation
In-world tasks or achievements
Approved creative or support contributions
Member & Event Access
Some events or roles may include starting currency as part of participation.
Pricing & Tax Notes
Applicable GST/HST is collected at the time of currency purchase, in accordance with Canadian tax requirements.
A separate operational commission is included with each currency exchange to support site maintenance, staffing, stewardship, and currency replacement.
Individual goods or services purchased within Wyrdwood may include tax where required by law, depending on the nature of the item or service.
Our goal is to keep on-site transactions simple and transparent while remaining fully compliant with Canadian tax regulations.
Important Notes
Wyrdwood currency is not a financial instrument
It is not gambling
It is not an investment
It exists solely to support on-site experience and immersion
Use of the currency indicates agreement with these terms.
Use of Wyrdwood currency is limited to members, program participants, and invited guests with authorized on-site access.
Unspent currency remains within the Wyrdwood system and does not expire, but cannot be refunded or converted back to real-world currency.
Why We Use a Closed Currency
Wyrdwood is designed as a contained, living environment. A closed currency:
Keeps transactions simple and transparent
Supports immersion without external disruption
Ensures fair access for all participants
Aligns with long-term stewardship and regulatory compliance
Looking Ahead
As Wyrdwood develops, the currency system may evolve to support:
Deeper character progression
Expanded vendor participation
Event-specific mechanics
All changes will remain on-site, non-redeemable, and transparent.
Care & Responsibility
Wyrdwood currency is treated as a physical, on-site token.
Participants are responsible for their currency while on site. Lost or stolen coins generally cannot be replaced, just as with cash at an event or market.
Deliberate theft, misuse, or abuse of the currency system is not part of Wyrdwood play and will be handled by staff as a real-world issue, not an in-world mechanic.
Wyrdwood is built on trust, stewardship, and mutual respect.
Collector & Commemorative Coins
From time to time, Wyrdwood may produce limited-run or commemorative coin sets to mark milestones, events, or seasons.
These coins are not intended for use as on-site currency unless explicitly stated.
They may differ in design, finish, or material and are produced for collecting, display, or keepsake purposes.
Collector coins:
May not be accepted for in-world purchases
Have no cash or exchange value
Exist outside the operational currency system
Their purpose is to celebrate Wyrdwood’s growth and history, not to function as tender.
